Sebastian Hills Golf Club - Xenia, Ohio - An 18 hole golf course and residential development built on ideal golf course land. Only 24 two acre lots will be developed on the site. Sebastian Hills was selected one of the "100 Must-Play Courses" (out of 650) in Ohio for 2005 and 2006 by GolfStyles Magazine. It also was voted the #1 golf course in Greene County. Sebastian Hills has many spectacular holes, as several of them play over and through heavily wooded ravines formed by meandering streams, and several more play up and down hills dotted with isolated specimen trees. The par 72 course is somewhat unusual, with a par 35 front nine, featuring three par 3's, and a par 37 back nine, featuring three par 5's. Four sets of tees range from 6646 to 4668 yards. Sixty-five sand bunkers provide beauty and challenge to the layout. Water, in the form of the aforementioned streams and five lakes, comes into play on fourteen holes, although the water is strategically positioned so that the course is not too difficult for the weaker player. Although many holes could be considered the signature hole, perhaps the 514 yard, par 5, number 18 is the most spectacular of the bunch. The tee shot plays across a ravine, between two large specimen trees to a landing area cut into a hillside about fifteen feet lower than the tees. Two bunkers and a huge oak guard the left side of the landing area, but are actually more of an aid to the golfer, as they keep a big hook from going over a twenty foot cliff into a stream. The second shot plays another twenty feet downhill, and presents the golfer with the decision of laying up short of a stream that crosses the fairway 400 yards from the tee, leaving a 130 yard third shot which plays about ten feet uphill, or going for the green which is protected in front by two deep bunkers, to the left by a steep slope, and to the rear by another stream.
